Description

Sweet Potato Crust Pizza is a healthier, gluten-free alternative to traditional pizza. This recipe features a crispy sweet potato base that is naturally sweet, perfectly complemented by savory toppings. It’s a versatile and nutritious option for pizza lovers, whether you’re following a gluten-free diet, looking to cut carbs, or simply want a more wholesome pizza experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, grated
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Tomato sauce (optional)
  • Shredded cheese (optional)
  • Vegetable toppings (e.g., spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and grate the sweet potatoes, then squeeze out any excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the grated sweet potatoes, almond flour, egg, garlic powder, oregano, olive oil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Transfer the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a round pizza crust about ½ inch thick.
  5. Bake the crust for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crispy on the edges.
  6. Remove the crust from the oven and add your desired toppings like sauce, cheese, and vegetables.
  7. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the toppings are cooked to your liking.
  8. Remove from the oven, slice, and serve the Sweet Potato Crust Pizza.

Notes

  • Make sure to squeeze out excess moisture from the grated sweet potatoes for a firmer crust.
  • You can prepare the crust in advance and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days before adding toppings.
  • If you prefer a vegan version, substitute the egg with a flax egg and use dairy-free cheese.
  • The crust can also be made ahead and frozen for later use.
