Description

Amish Style Apple and Cinnamon Baked Oatmeal is a warm, comforting baked breakfast made with rolled oats, tender apples, cinnamon, and simple pantry ingredients. It is perfect for make-ahead mornings, family breakfasts, or cozy weekends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons butter or coconut oil, melted
  • 2–3 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the rolled oats, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and brown sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until fully combined.
  5. Add the melted butter or coconut oil and mix well.
  6. Spread the diced apples evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Pour the oatmeal mixture over the apples and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 35–45 minutes, until the top is lightly golden and the center is set.
  9. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.

Notes

  • This baked oatmeal can be assembled the night before and refrigerated overnight.
  • Firm apples like Honeycrisp or Gala work best.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated with a splash of milk.
  • For a dairy-free version, use plant-based milk and coconut oil.
