Description
Brown Sugar Cinnamon Oatmeal is a warm and comforting breakfast dish that combines the sweetness of brown sugar with the warmth of cinnamon. This easy-to-make recipe is perfect for busy mornings, offering a healthy and satisfying start to your day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water (or 1/2 cup milk + 1/2 cup water)
- 1/2 cup large flake rolled oats
- 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar (plus more to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water (and milk if using) to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, stir in the oats, cinnamon, brown sugar, and salt. Stir well to combine.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the oatmeal simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Keep an eye on it to prevent it from boiling over.
- After 5 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat, cover with a lid, and let it sit for 2 minutes to absorb the remaining liquid.
- Serve in bowls and add more brown sugar or cinnamon to taste.
Notes
- If you prefer a creamier oatmeal, cook the oats in half milk and half water.
- For a thinner consistency, add more liquid. For thicker oatmeal, reduce the liquid.
- Leftover oatmeal can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat with extra water.
