Chicken Alfredo Air Fryer Calzones are crispy, cheesy, and packed with creamy homemade alfredo sauce, tender chicken, and melted mozzarella. These calzones are cooked to perfection in the air fryer, making them a healthier alternative to deep-fried options while maintaining all the flavor and comfort you love.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb. premade pizza dough
- 2 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 4 tablespoons butter (for topping)
- 2 teaspoons fresh parsley, minced
- Marinara sauce (for dipping, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the alfredo sauce: In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt 5 tablespoons butter. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the heavy cream and Italian seasoning, bringing it to a low simmer. Let the sauce thicken for about 3 minutes. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Prepare the pizza dough: Divide the premade pizza dough into 4-ounce portions. Roll each portion into a round shape, about 6 inches in diameter.
- Assemble the calzones: Spoon a tablespoon of the cooled alfredo sauce onto the center of each dough round. Top with a few tablespoons of shredded rotisserie chicken and a generous pinch of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Fold the dough: Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges of the dough to seal, then fold the edges over for a tight seal.
- Air fry the calzones: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Brush the top of each calzone with melted butter and minced parsley. Place them in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd. Cook for 8 minutes, flipping halfway through and reapplying butter.
- Serve: Once golden and crispy, remove the calzones from the air fryer. Serve immediately with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
Notes
- For best results, don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. You may need to cook the calzones in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- If you prefer, you can use homemade pizza dough instead of store-bought.
- The alfredo sauce will be very hot right after cooking, so allow the calzones to cool for a minute before eating to avoid burning your mouth.
- These calzones can be made ahead and frozen. Assemble and freeze before cooking, then air fry from frozen at 375°F for 10-12 minutes.
