Description
Crispy roasted chickpeas are a healthy, crunchy snack that’s packed with protein and fiber. This simple recipe uses canned or cooked chickpeas, olive oil, and your favorite spices to create a satisfying treat perfect for snacking or adding to salads and bowls.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups cooked or canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- Sea salt, to taste
- Optional spices: paprika, curry powder, or others of your choice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Drain and rinse the chickpeas. Pat them dry using a kitchen towel and remove any loose skins.
- Place the chickpeas on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Toss the chickpeas with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt. Make sure they are evenly coated.
- Roast in the oven for 20-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Start checking at the 20-minute mark, but let them roast longer for more crispiness if necessary.
- Remove from the oven and, while still warm, toss with your preferred spices like paprika or curry powder.
- Allow the chickpeas to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispy chickpeas, ensure they are completely dry before roasting.
- Store roasted chickpeas in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- If they lose their crunch, reheat in the oven for a few minutes to bring them back to crispy texture.
- Feel free to experiment with spices like garlic powder, chili powder, or cumin for different flavor variations.
