Ingredients
Scale
- 4 oz Dark chocolate, chopped
- 2 cups Whole milk
- 1/2 cup Heavy cream
- 2 tbsp Sugar (or to taste)
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp Ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces to ensure it melts smoothly.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until it begins to steam, but do not let it boil.
- Add the chopped dark chocolate to the heated milk mixture, stirring constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Stir in the sugar and vanilla extract. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
- Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or shaved chocolate if desired.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- If you prefer a richer drink, you can add more heavy cream or reduce the amount of milk.
- For a dairy-free version, swap the whole milk and heavy cream for plant-based alternatives like almond or oat milk.
- To make the hot chocolate spicier, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder.
