These easy-to-make Reindeer Cupcakes are perfect for holiday celebrations, combining festive decoration with a delicious cupcake base. With chocolate candy antlers, red icing noses, and a fun swirl of brown icing, these cupcakes are a hit at Christmas parties, family gatherings, and classroom events. Whether you make them with a homemade or boxed mix, they’re sure to bring joy to everyone who sees (and eats) them!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box cupcake mix or homemade cupcake batter
  • 1 small box of pudding (optional for extra moisture)
  • 1 extra egg (optional for added richness)
  • Festive cupcake liners
  • Chocolate candy melts
  • 2 Wilton #4 decorating tips
  • 2 Wilton #10 decorating tips
  • Disposable decorating bags
  • Wilton red icing
  • Wilton brown icing
  • Wilton black decorator icing
  • Parchment paper
  • Eyeball sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and line your cupcake pan with festive liners.
  2. Prepare the cupcake batter according to the instructions on the box or your homemade recipe. If using a boxed mix, add a small box of pudding and an extra egg for extra moisture and richness.
  3. Using a cookie scoop, fill each cupcake cavity evenly with batter.
  4. Bake according to the recipe or box instructions, usually at 350°F for 17 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. While the cupcakes bake, melt the chocolate candy melts in the microwave in 30-second increments at 30% power, stirring in between until smooth.
  6. Once melted, pour the chocolate into a disposable decorating bag fitted with a #4 Wilton decorating tip. On a piece of parchment paper, pipe out antlers in a “Y” shape, making extra in case any break while handling. Let them dry completely.
  7. Allow the cupcakes to cool on a wire rack for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Once cooled, fit two decorating bags with #10 tips and fill one with brown icing and the other with red icing. Also, prepare a bag with black icing for the eyes.
  9. Using the brown icing, pipe a swirl starting from the outer edge of the cupcake and moving inward in a clockwise motion to cover the top of the cupcake.
  10. Attach two chocolate antlers to each cupcake.
  11. Use the black icing to pipe small dots for the reindeer’s eyes.
  12. Finish off the cupcakes by adding a red nose using the red icing.
  13. Admire your festive reindeer creations!

Notes

  • If you’re using a box mix, adding pudding and an extra egg will make the cupcakes extra moist and delicious.
  • Make sure the chocolate antlers are completely dry before attaching them to the cupcakes to avoid breakage.
  • For a quicker decorating option, you can use store-bought frosting instead of making your own brown icing.
  • Feel free to use alternative decorations such as edible eyeballs or red peanut butter M&Ms for the nose.
