Description

These Halloween Caprese Salad Skewers combine the classic flavors of mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes with a spooky twist, making them perfect for your Halloween celebration. Shaped like skulls, they are fun to make and delicious to eat. With balsamic vinegar for a tangy finish, these skewers are sure to impress your guests at any party or event.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces mozzarella Ciligiene
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin)
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and drain the mozzarella.
  2. Lightly oil a silicone skull mold and place one mozzarella ball in each skull cavity.
  3. Place the molds in the oven for 6-8 minutes to soften the cheese.
  4. Once out of the oven, press the mozzarella firmly into the mold with a paper towel to remove excess liquid and shape it into the skulls. Let cool in the fridge for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Thread a bamboo skewer with one mozzarella skull, a folded basil leaf, and a cherry tomato.
  6. Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the skewers or serve on the side for dipping.
  7. Chill the skewers in the fridge until ready to serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to use vegan mozzarella for a dairy-free version.
  • For extra flavor, drizzle balsamic glaze instead of balsamic vinegar.
  • These skewers are best served fresh, but you can make them ahead and store in the fridge for up to an hour.
  • Use a silicone mold for detailed skull shapes, but you can also shape the mozzarella by hand if needed.
