Description

Slow Cooker Maple & Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots are a sweet, comforting side dish made with simple ingredients like baby carrots, maple syrup, and brown sugar. This easy-to-make recipe ensures tender, glazed carrots with rich flavors of maple and cinnamon, perfect for family dinners, holidays, or potlucks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds baby carrots
  • ¼ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup real maple syrup
  • ⅓ cup cubed salted butter

Instructions

  1. Add the baby carrots to the insert of a 6qt slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle in the salt, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Stir well to combine.
  3. Pour in the maple syrup and toss well to distribute the syrup.
  4. Spread the coated carrots evenly in the slow cooker.
  5. Top with the cubed butter, and cover with the lid.
  6. Cook on high for 3 hours or on low for 5-6 hours, stirring once or twice during the cook time.
  7. If desired, remove the lid in the final 30 minutes to thicken the glaze, or transfer the carrots to a bowl and simmer the sauce in a saucepan for 5 minutes until thickened.

Notes

  • If using unsalted butter, you may want to increase the salt in the recipe slightly.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute the butter with coconut oil or a dairy-free spread.
  • You can prepare the carrots ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
  • If you don’t have baby carrots, you can use regular carrots, peeled and cut into coins or sticks.
