Description

Strawberry Sando is a classic Japanese fruit sandwich made with fluffy milk bread, lightly sweetened whipped cream, and fresh strawberries. It’s a no-bake dessert that’s perfect for tea time, picnics, or a sweet afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream: for a light, airy filling
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar: to sweeten the cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence (optional): for added aroma and depth
  • 4 slices milk bread: soft base to hold the filling
  • 10 strawberries: fresh, juicy, and the star of the sandwich

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla essence. Whip until stiff peaks form.
  2. Wash and dry the strawberries. Remove the tops to create a flat base. Trim the crusts off the milk bread slices.
  3. Spread a layer of whipped cream on one slice of bread.
  4. Arrange 3 strawberries diagonally across the bread and place one strawberry on each side of the middle strawberry, ensuring all face the same direction.
  5. Cover the strawberries with another layer of whipped cream, ensuring they are fully concealed.
  6. Place the second slice of bread on top. Smooth the sides gently without pressing down.
  7. Tightly wrap the sandwich in plastic wrap. Optional: Mark the top with a line indicating the strawberry direction for slicing.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or freeze for 15 minutes for cleaner cuts.
  9. Using a sharp knife, slice along the diagonal line of the strawberries. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use cold cream and tools to achieve the best whipped texture.
  • You can swap strawberries for fruits like kiwi, mango, or mandarin oranges.
  • Use soft, crustless bread for best texture and appearance.
  • If not serving immediately, store in the fridge tightly wrapped to prevent sogginess.
  • For vegan option, use plant-based whipped cream and dairy-free bread.
