Description

These Vegan Cinnamon Sugar Knots are a quick, easy, and delicious dairy-free dessert that’s perfect for any occasion. Made with only four simple ingredients, these puff pastry twists are flaky, sweet, and aromatic, thanks to the cinnamon-sugar filling and buttery texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet vegan puff pastry
  • 3 Tablespoons melted vegan butter
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup sugar (for coating)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Defrost the puff pastry according to package instructions, about 40 minutes at room temperature.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and brush with 1½ tablespoons of melted vegan butter.
  3. Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon and sprinkle over the buttered pastry.
  4. Fold the pastry in half and cut it into 8 strips using a pizza cutter or sharp knife.
  5. Twist each strip and roll into a spiral shape, tucking the ends under to form knots.
  6. Place the knots on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with the remaining 1½ tablespoons of melted vegan butter.
  7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden and flaky.
  8. While the knots cool for 1-2 minutes, mix ¼ cup sugar and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon for coating.
  9. Coat the knots in the cinnamon-sugar mixture and serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry is cold but pliable when working with it for best results.
  • Feel free to experiment with other fillings such as chocolate or fruit preserves inside the knots.
  • These knots are best served fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
  • If reheating, microwave for 10-15 seconds to keep them soft.
